Facials and professional skincare offer many health and beauty benefits. We provide facials for both men and women at Circle of Light.
A glowing face and wonderful relaxation are what you can expect from having just one, however many long-term benefits can be gained from having regular facials and a good home care regimen.
Top 12 Benefits of Getting Facials:
1. Facials bring out your natural beauty and youthfulness.
The stimulation to the skin & increased circulation bring out your natural beauty & youthfulness. Your healthiest color and freshest face come through.
2. Facials relax and renew your whole being.
The muscles of the face, especially around the jaws, temples, eyes & mouth, are always working whether you are awake or asleep. Steam and massage to your face release a great deal of tension. That release creates a totally renewed look and feeling. Your face shows how you feel, whether you realize it or not.
3. Facials detox and purge the skin of impurities.
Stress, pollution, poor diet, lack of exercise and allergies can cause toxins to build up in the skin. This may cause puffiness, uneven texture, clogged pores and congestion. Removing toxins can improve the appearance of your skin over time.
4. Facials can reduce the appearance of clogged and enlarged pores.
Deep pore cleansing and toning reduces the appearance of clogged or enlarged pores and refines the look of your skin. Professional skin care products & equipment cleanse and extract more than what you can do at home. Some redness may occur initially. Clean & toned pores appear much smaller & sometimes are barely visible! (Deep pore cleansing facials are best avoided immediately before special occasions).
5. Facials bring life and luster to a dull complexion.
Thorough exfoliation of the face lifts layers of dead skin cells that can build up over time and bring dullness to your skin. The increased blood flow and oxygen to the skin during facials plumps up your healthy cells and increases your color and luster.
6. Facials combat common skin problems such as acne, rosacea and eczema.
With the proper skin analysis and use of professional products, some very bothersome skin problems can be improved. With a regular series of facials & a correct home skin care regimen, many troublesome skin problems can be healed all together.
7. Facials help your skin adjust to changes in lifestyle.
Sometimes we need to modify our daily skin care routines to account for changes in lifestyle. New workout routines, added sun exposure, changes in diet, traveling and stress can cause skin problems. Your esthetician is trained to advise you on how to best modify your skin care routine to address your current needs.
8. Facials can reduce stress lines and wrinkles.
The skin around the eyes and mouth plump up after being massaged and moisturized during a facial. Lines and creases resulting from dehydration can be impacted very quickly with a moisturizer of the right weight for your skin.
9. Facials get moisture into the deeper layers of your skin.
Products used during a facial can penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin with the use of high frequency and galvanic equipment. Freshly exfoliated skin will drink in the products easier. If your skin is dehydrated, your esthetician may choose a hydrating mask and serums to apply during your facial.
10. Facials can improve skin texture.
Exfoliation, stimulation and application of products packed with good nutrients will help skin cells to regenerate themselves, creating smoother and a more even skin texture. Facials support the skin’s natural process of regeneration.
11. Facials can reduce sun damage.
Hyper-pigmentation caused by sun damage and hormones can be greatly improved with today’s sophisticated professional skin care products.
12. Facials offer protection from premature aging.
As we age, the skin slows down its production of oil which has been keeping it supple and youthful. Facials and a proper home skin care regimen can slow down the premature aging of skin.
The relaxing and nurturing aspects of facials aren’t emphasized enough in the spa industry today… Sometimes, it seems to be that there is much too much emphasis in spa advertising on correcting and focusing on every tiny flaw, line or wrinkle! Many ads appear to be offering women a way to escape the experience of aging altogether! This is not where we stand. And thankfully, this is not the stance of many skin care professionals. Relaxing you and bringing out the best in you and the skin you are in is the primary focus of most good estheticians. It is definitely ours.
Our philosophy at Circle of Light is that true beauty comes from within and a relaxed and centered way of being shines through the eyes, the smile and the entire face…
Having said that, one of the greatest things that professional skin care has to offer is expert guidance on how to best take care of the face you have. Everybody’s skin has unique needs and those needs change over time. We have great guidance to offer on how to protect your skin from the elements, pollution, stress and over exposure. Having a professional analyze your current skin care routine and teach you how to best keep your skin clean and hydrated is wonderful. You can create a morning and evening routine that fits into your schedule and budget. You may also be advised to toss some of your current products if they seem to be stripping, dehydrating or hurting your skin.

There are many different treatment options for acne.
The most common involve harsh abrasives, chemicals, and antibiotics. Abrasives and chemicals can cause skin irritation in some people that makes them less than ideal for everyday use, and antibiotics can cause severe stomach discomfort and drug-resistant strains of bacteria.
While they're all potential options for acne, many try to go a more natural route. One proposed treatment is Grape Seed for acne, both in supplement form and in lotion/oil form.
What is Grape Seed?
As the name implies, grape seed is the seed of pressed grapes. Generally, the supposedly beneficial components of grape seed are extracted from the seed itself, often by crushing the grapes and removing any oils that come out as a result.
Studies have shown that grape seed has a high concentration of several important minerals, including flavonoids, vitamin E, and lineolic acid.
Many herbal medicine supporters have linked some of the qualities of grape seed with potential health benefits. For example, some believe that extract from the seeds may protect teeth from sugar damage, and that some of the antioxidants may protect against certain types of cancer.
Studies have not yet shown any significant side effects of taking grape seed, either in the short or long term. However, it should be noted that no longitudinal studies have tested grape seed as a long term supplement.
Linoleic Acid and Acne
The linoleic acid found in grape seed oil helps protect the collagen and elastin found in the skin cell membranes. A Harvard Medical School publication, HEALTHbeat, explains linoleic acid serves as an emollient, or an agent that smooths the skin, and fills in the spaces between skin cells. Emollients can contribute to clearing up acne-prone skin. So, using skincare products containing grape seed oil can prove effective in keeping skin looking younger and firmer. Linoleic acid also has exfoliating properties, which is extremely important for spot prone skin types. Research studies have shown daily application of linoleic acid over a month helped to reduce spot size and incidence by 25%,
Antioxidants, Antihistamines and Acne
Antioxidants, found naturally in many foods, are all-around helpful to and healthy for the body. When it comes to skin, the antioxidants found in grape seed oil OPCs help neutralize the free radicals in our bodies. This can help clear acne. Additionally, the anti-inflammatory properties of the OPCs can also effectively prevent breakouts. These also prevent the aging process, not only helping clear acne, but also keeping skin looking younger.
Arbutin is a natural alternative to hydroquinone. It limits melanin production and reduces visible pigmentation through lightening actions and the inhibition of tyrosinase. It is derived from the bearberry plant.
